Hot Rock's vision is to become a world leader in clean energy by the acquisition, development and operation of profitable geothermal projects using world best practice.

Geothermal energy is a source of clean, renewable and continuously available power production. We carefully select our projects where the economics are right - that means not just good geology, but also operating in an attractive commercial environment, where the right selling price for electricity and green credits, proximity to transmission grids and population centres, supportive government, attractive fiscal policy and the potential to scale up. Moreover, we base our approach on solid science, engineering and commercial parameters.

Hot Rock has a simple and clear strategy to build its first geothermal generation plants:

Otway Basin Geothermal Province, Australia

Our development plan is based on:

  1. Review of data from prior oil & gas exploration to select the best geothermal resources (completed);
  2. MT survey to identify the best drilling sites (field work completed in mid-2008);
  3. Drilling to test the flow rates and temperatures (Q4 2009);
  4. Installation of demonstration geothermal plant to demonstrate generation; and
  5. Construction of a 50 MW commercial geothermal plant and then subsequent expansion.
